Assistant Manager – Controllership

About the Role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager- Controllership to independently oversee finance operations in Colombia. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, smooth monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, and compliance with both local and global standards. The position includes supervising external accounting partners and supporting the VP of Finance on process improvements and special projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead finance operations in Colombia, managing accounting activities and ensuring reliable financial reporting.
- Maintain a strong understanding of financial reporting structures and general ledgers across multiple locations and legal entities.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial information according to schedule.
- Collaborate with the Global Controllership team to ensure clean and timely year-end audits.
- Supervise the external accounting firm on daily operations, including vendor payments and payroll accounting.
- Support the VP of Finance on special projects, workflow enhancements, automation initiatives, and integration of acquisitions.
- Lead local statutory audits and US GAAP reviews for consolidated financial statements.
- Oversee the general ledger team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Assist in developing and implementing new procedures to improve departmental workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA designation or Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local accounting standards.
- Experience with Oracle applications.
- Comfortable communicating in written and spoken English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel.
